BrightPower is developing the Sonak Solar Project - approximately 300 MW of on-site solar generation paired with battery energy storage on 1,888 acres in Eloy. A behind-the-meter renewable energy facility built for Arizona's growing power needs.
The Sonak Solar Project is an approved photovoltaic solar generation and battery energy storage facility in unincorporated Pinal County, carrying Industrial (I-3) zoning with a Planned Area Development overlay and a Green Energy Production land-use designation. At its core, the project is approximately 300 MW of solar generation paired with an expanded, modular battery storage system of roughly 1,900 MWh - plus the on-site substation, equipment yards, access, drainage, and support facilities contemplated in the approved plan.
The facility is designed to operate behind the meter: it generates and stores clean energy on site, for on-site use, during the phased buildout ahead of full grid interconnection.

A modular battery energy storage system of roughly 1,900 MWh captures on-site solar energy and helps balance and stabilize power delivery across the day.
Energy is produced, stored, and consumed on site - no new grid load and no utility interconnection agreement required during the interim phase.
As part of the pending site plan amendment, BrightPower has proposed a small, behind-the-meter energy-utilization area - modular, containerized computing (Bitcoin mining) equipment that would consume the project's own solar energy on site, helping manage load and reduce curtailment during the phased buildout. It is characterized as an accessory energy-utilization and load-management use, not a commercial data center. This use is proposed and remains subject to Pinal County review and approval.
